Salam to all

When Firas was writing his master dissertation in law, he had to travel all the way from Gabès to Sfax just to find a book. The resources of his library were so poor that he ended up scheduling a trip to Tunis to spend a day or two in law libraries up there. His story struck a chord with me. It reminded me of my time as a PhD student where I could check any reference in the blink of an eye. How frustrating and how desperate would I have been had I faced the same hardship.

This is when we set up Law for All, established partnerships with law schools in Tunisia and started acquiring books. This year we have started sending more than 1500 books, the equivalent of half of the collection of the law library of Sousse, the third largest in the country.

We donated 300 books to the law library of Gabès University and we have already made a huge impact as the following video shows :

There are many charities supporting different causes, but what we are trying here is different. Strengthening up the training of today’s law students is just improving the lawyers, judges and law makers of tomorrow, those that we help materialise the rule of law that we all wish in our country. And you all know this is critical.

Our goal is to repeat this  operation twice a year for the next 5 years so that we make sure that all law libraries in Tunisia are on par with international standards for the coming decade.

What are we going to do with your money? Mostly covering for the books collection and transportation expenses for this year.

But the most important thing is that your money will help show to the Firas’ of today that the Tunisian diaspora cares about knowledge and high education with the goal that the Firas’ of tomorrow will not have to face these challenges.

That is what Law for all is for, this is what we are looking your help for!
